Time for Reflection
It is not easy to switch from activity to stillness, from noise to silence, from achieving to letting go, from doing to being in the presence of God. This book of biblically rooted meditations provides accessible and practical routes to exploring prayer as that way of being in God's presence, letting the sediment of our lives settle so that we may have a true reflection of ourselves and of God within us.
Loosely based around the seasons of the Church year and also drawing inspiration from the seasons of nature, the meditations range from short 'spaces for grace' to longer exercises that can form the basis for a personal quiet day or retreat.
Ann Persson, with her husband Paul, used their former home, Highmoor Hall in Oxfordshire, as a retreat house and a centre for creativity. Now retired, she enjoys leading retreats and quiet days, often for BRF. She enjoys combining her love of nature with her love of God's word in the events that she leads. She has also written The Circle of Love (BRF, 2010).
From The Good Bookstall - August 2011
Meditations and silence are offered a resourceful steer, in this new title from Ann Persson. Biblically rooted and warmly narrated comes helps that range from fleeting thought processes to more substantial life audits and retreat day activities. The seasonal chapters are particularly potent and some of my favourites in the breadth of this offering. The reflection boxes offer sizeable help in the application of each chapter. Undoubtedly valued reference use.
