Bible Readings For Special Times series

From: Home and Family – Autumn 2006

Moving house is said to be one of life’s greatest stresses after a close family bereavement, marriage breakdown or losing one’s job. It might be due to a family upgrading or downsizing, a student leaving home and going into digs, employment relocation, or an old person moving into residential accommodation. At such pivotal times the reassurance of well-chosen words form the Bible can be of great comfort.

The Bible Reading Fellowship has produced this booklet as one of its ‘Bible Readings for Special Times’ series. The booklets are aimed at those life-changing occasions ‘when we want to hear God’s word speaking to us clearly’; when a card seems not quite enough and a larger gift inappropriate. Others in the series are bereavement, confirmation, ill health, marriage, new baby and retirement, and are compiled by those with experience of each particular situation.

At £1.99, they cost no more money than many cards but have within them the bonus of 24 undated reflections linking scripture to these experiences, each giving a few moments’ space to connect with eternity when life is hectic.

Definitely worth the money and definitely more than a card. I have just ordered some.
